Bollenstreekrit 2011

April 13th, 2011 No comments

mooistefile Bollenstreekrit 2011This Sunday 17th April is the VW aircooled display at the Keukenhof. AKA the Bollenstreekrit (there are also hundreds of other vintage cars on display)
As you might know, the flower park Keukenhof is one of the most beautiful spring gardens in the world which draws in more than 800,000 visitors from around the world in just 2 months.
On Sunday from 10:00 a.m until  2:00 p.m. the cars will be parked at the main entrance of the Keukenhof,  at 14:30 pm the cars will take a scenic drive through the region. This will end on the boulevard in Noordwijk where we will be closing the Best Traffic Jam in the Netherlands (de Mooiste File van Nederland)
Here it is also possible to talk about the nice day while enjoying a snack and a drink at one of the many restaurants or beach bars.
Of course everyone is free in his or her choice to only participate in the ride, visit the park or both.

scanning loyalty cards

1642928560 6b8823d3e3 scanning loyalty cardsAnyone using their phone to store all their loyalty cards?
I know scanners work on old non-touch screens (ala KLM E-Check In) but I have not tried with my existing HTC Desire.
Reason?…
<rant> My wallet is so full of these goddamn cards
I have 2 for petrol, 1 for the DIY store, the Supermarket, Breakdown Service, Hospital, Video shop, Museum Card, Makro, Camping Card, Health insurance, Driving Licience, NL ID)

I’d much rather just have my wallet back thank-you very much instead of lugging round a suitcase in my pocket full of plastic </rant>

Someone tell me this is possible before I make a fool of myself at the checkout, .. also do screen protector make a difference (I’m not using a mirror type before you ask!)

thanks!

Holland Museum Card

February 21st, 2011 No comments

logo main ro Holland Museum CardThe ‘Museumkaart’ is a great deal if you like to visit the museums of Holland. It gives you FREE access to nearly all the Museums across the country for a paltry price of just €44.00 per adult and €24 per children aged 3 to 12 per year (children under 3 are free in most museums). After visiting the train museum twice and the Nijntje Museum (aka ‘Miffy’ aka Dick Bruna House) more than half a dozen times, I think the card will be fast paying for itself and saving me money to boot!… Get one!

More info at the MuseumKaart website

You can buy ‘museumkaarts’ online or at all of the museums listed on their website, once purchased you can enter for free…wo0t!

DJ Photos

Check out this wicked gallery of DJ photos from Sidemedia.nl
Matt is an up and coming freelance professional photographer, he’s really getting a name for himself around the world taking pics in clubs and events, I worked with him one night last month at the TranceEnergy event here in Utrecht, it was great fun hanging round back stage, people give you a different look when they see you behind the security guard, kind of… are you famous and do I know you… great laugh!
I stole this from his site for your pleasure (with kind permission of course)…A great pic of one of my favorite DJs, Carl Cox!
Go check him out – LINK

March 31st, 2004 2 comments

Monday March 29th 2004 night at the Heineken Music hall in Amsterdam, I went to see the legendary Kraftwerk, I felt like breakdancin’ as they played all the 70s & 80s classics.

Pure brilliance, listening to Tour de France and Autobahn etc etc.

The Skatalites

November 7th, 2003 No comments

Location: Melkweg, Amsterdam
6th November 2003
9 PM – 11.30 AM
€18.90 + €2.50 membership
WERE NOT WORTHY!!!!!
I have never seen the Melkweg so full of people. The people were from every walk of life and they all unanimously shook they’re asses. Dutch people actually danced….Everyone cheered and smiled and toked and toasted. And that was just the crowd. The Skatalites were spectacular. They lived up to my every expectation and surely must have been everything anyone else could imagine or remember. It took me back…Years.
Professionals all the way, they must have the collective age of Australia as we know it. They seemed to have recognised that a touch of youth sprinkled in offers a little more energy at vital points in the gig. I think there are 3 members of the original group remaining, on the night the group including drummer, bass player, sax, trumpets, trombone, synthesisor and vocals. It was a long and non stop gig, no supporting act etc.
